Receiving with ease is critical to sustainable giving

Do you receive the way you want people to receive from you?

I’m not sure if I’ve become acutely aware or whether it’s a coincidence, but I’ve had many clients who are struggling to receive.

If you struggle to receive, you are going against everything your heart needs to ensure your giving is sustainable.

Here are some questions to help you know if you are bad at receiving: –

Do you feel much more comfortable with giving rather than receiving?

Does receiving fail to fulfil you to the level you expect?

Do you feel inadequate, guilty, embarrassed or anxious when people compliment you?

The moment people give you something, are you quickly trying to find what you can give back?

We work so hard to make a difference in people’s lives. Why is it when people want to return the favour, so we can feel the difference we have made, we are blocked from receiving their gratitude?

When we struggle to receive, we are being selfish. We know how awesome it feels to give and have someone appreciate it. So why would we deprive them of the same opportunity?

If you meditate on what it feels like to give and then imagine people giving you something you value, focus on how you’re allowing them to feel the difference they made in you. It turns out you are giving gratitude and appreciation when you are receiving open heartedly and gracefully.

How about we commit to receiving the way we want people to receive from us? – make sense, right?
